FRESH CHERRY CAKE with CHOCOLATE DRIZZLE

This quick dessert was developed six years ago to partake of the short but sweet bing cherry season..
Ingredients
1/2 c butter (1 stick), softened
1 3/4 c sugar
2 eggs
1/4 t salt
1 t vanilla extract
1 t baking soda
1/4 c sour cream
1 1/2 c flour
1 c cherries, sliced in half and pitted
Good quality chocolate, melted
Cooking Instructions
Cream butter with sugar. Add eggs, salt and vanilla; beat well until mixture is smooth. Dissolve the baking soda in the sour cream (it should puff up); mix in. Stir in flour, then fold in cherries. Pour batter into greased metal or glass rectangular 9 x 13 baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes, or until cake tests done. Melt chocolate in microwave or double boiler. Drizzle over cooled cake.
